Lothar Ahrendt

Lothar Ahrendt ( born March 13, 1936 in Erfurt ) is a former politician ( SED) and was from 1989 to 1990 Minister of the Interior of the GDR.

Life

As the son of a laborer, he completed after attending the elementary school from 1950 to 1953 an apprenticeship as a car mechanic. In 1953 he joined the German People's Police (ASP ), was from 1955 to 1959 as a truck driver at the Higher Police School in Berlin -Kaulsdorf. In 1957 he joined the SED. After training at the Police Academy in Middle Aschersleben, he was appointed second lieutenant in 1960 and then worked as a clerk at the Police of the Presidium of the VP in Berlin. From 1965 to 1968 he attended the University of the German People's Police Karl Liebknecht, graduating with a degree in political science. From 1969 to 1978 he was first deputy head of the VP- inspection Berlin -Köpenick, then the rank of lieutenant colonel in the VP head of the VP- inspection Berlin -Mitte.

From 1978 to 1983 Ahrendt was deputy colonel of the President VP VP Berlin and from 1981 to 1984 candidate of the SED district leadership Berlin. In 1983 he was appointed as the successor of pensioners to Willi Seifert sent to the Deputy Minister of the Interior and Major General. In 1985, he was after the death of Rudolf Plan 1st Deputy Minister and also joined its successor as 2.Vorsitzender the sports association dynamo. In 1986, he was promoted to lieutenant general. From 1986 to 1989 he was a candidate of the Central Committee of the SED. From November 1989 to March 1990, he was succeeded Friedrich Dickel Minister of the Interior in the Modrow government. Subsequently, he was a consultant of the last interior minister of the GDR Peter -Michael Diestel and to the reunification head of the Main Directorate of the Border Guard of the GDR Ministry of the Interior of the GDR in the rank of Inspector General.
