Louny District

The Okres Louny ( translated as district Laun ) was a town in the Ústí nad Labem Region ( Ústí nad Labem ) in the Czech Republic. The Okresy were comparable in size with the districts in Germany. With the administrative reform on 1 January 2000, the Okres lost much of their administrative tasks, to lose them in 2003 with the dissolution of the offices ( okresný úrad ) completely.

The district is located in northern Bohemia, includes the Saaz pool ( Žatecká pánev ), the Goldbach country ( Podbořansko ) and extends to the east by the Central Bohemian Massif.

In Okres Louny live in an area of 1,118 km ² approximately 86,000 people in 70 communities ( Obec ) with 221 districts ( část obcí ). The population density is the lowest in the county.

In recent years, it came to a major upheaval in the country's economy. Only in agriculture kept the hop its primacy. Are still grown cereals, oil crops and livestock is operated. In industry, about a quarter of the population is employed, especially in the food industry, mechanical engineering, power generation and construction industries. Reported are 14,000 companies, of which about 1,200 independent farmers.
