Lübeck–Hamburg railway

The railway line Lübeck- Hamburg is one of the major railway routes of Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg. It connects the two Hanseatic cities and is sometimes seen as part of the international Vogelfluglinie.

Route description

From Lübeck, the route runs southwest through most dominantly agricultural, slightly wavy plains. The Travelodge is crossed three times. History

Already in 1831 the construction of a railway line between Lübeck and Hamburg was discussed. Operation

Between Ahrensburg and Bargteheide the breakpoint Ahrensburg garden wood was built in 2009. However, the opening of the station to the timetable change in 2009 failed because of legal issues and was completed with a one year delay on 12 December 2010.

Future

The section Hamburg -Bad Oldesloe will be expanded starting in 2017 for the S -Bahn operating with new holding Claudiusstraße, Bovestraße, Holstenhofweg and Pulverhof.
