Luis Islas

Luis Alberto Islas Ranieri ( born December 22, 1965 in Buenos Aires ) is a former Argentine football player at the FIFA World Cups in 1986 and 1994 participated with the national team of his native land and 1986 FIFA World Champion.

Career

Club career

Luis Islas, born in 1965 in Argentina's capital Buenos Aires, his footballing career started in 1982 at the Chacarita Juniors. The champion from 1969, however, was already playing at that time in the second division. During his time at the Chacarita Juniors Estudiantes de La Plata was aware of the young goalkeeper after Islas Argentina had successfully represented at the World Youth Championships in 1983 and a second place was achieved. 110,000 spectators at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City Islas lost with his team until the final against Brazil. National

After his success at the Junior Argentina Luis Islas played his first international match at senior level in 1984. Two years later he was in the squad of the Argentine national football team for the FIFA World Cup in Mexico.
