Lumsden Hare

Francis Lumsden Hare (* October 17, 1874 or April 27, 1875 in Tipperary, Munster, Ireland; † August 28, 1964 in Beverly Hills, California, United States) was an Irish film and theater actor, who worked for decades in the United States.

Life

Lumsden Hare immigrated at a young age from Ireland to the USA. On Broadway in New York, he was seen 1900-1942 in over 35 pieces. Besides, he also worked as a producer or director of several pieces. In 1916 he made ​​his film debut, it should follow in the next few decades around 140 other films and some television appearances. In the first years of his film career he played mostly lead roles from the 1920s, he moved to supporting roles. Mostly he played respectable Britons, for example, officers, aristocrats, doctors or priests. Especially frequently it was used in literary adaptations, or historical films. Among his best known films include uprising in Sidi Hakim, Rebecca, Northwest Passage and the fate of Irene Forsyte. From the 1940s, his film appearances often limited to only a few seconds, yet remained Hare to 1961 as a film and television actor active.

Lumsden Hare died in 1964 at 89 years. His first marriage he had with Frances Rutledge, from another marriage to Selene Johnson came a daughter named Nora.
