Lydion

The Lydion ( ancient Greek λύδιον; plural Lydia ) was an ancient vase shape.

The Lydion originated, as the name suggests, from the ancient Lydia and was also adopted in ancient Greece by the potters. Especially popular was the small shape of a bulbous and handleless Salbölgefäßes in eastern Greece. The container standing on a narrow, relatively high foot that had either a cylindrical or a conical shape. The neck could be of different lengths and was deposed edged. The lip was horizontal. Decorated the Lydion generally in stripes. In Athens, the mold was rarely produced, it was figuratively decorated even more rare.
