The Motorway M -2 is a motorway in the Punjabregion in Pakistan. It is 367 km long and connects Lahore with the largest city of the country's capital Islamabad.

Construction

The M-2 Kala Shah Kaku performs, Sheikhupura, Tekke Dogran, Kot Sarwar, Pindi Bhattian, Salem, Lilla, Kot Momin, Kallar Kahar, Balksar and Chakri. It was designed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in his first term (1990-1993) and inaugurated by the construction period from 1992 to 1997 during his second term in July 1997. It is one of the most expensive highways in Asia and has the highest column bridge in Asia ( in the Khewra Salt Range ). Owner and operator of the National Highway Authority.

Course

The M-2 begins in the west of Lahore Thokar Niaz Baig at the junction with the N -5 ( National Highway 5). Having crossed the river Ravi, it differs from the N-5 (also known as GT or Grand Trunk Road known) and leads west to Sheikhupura. 36 km followed by the exit to Khanqah Dogran. After following exit Kot Sarwar, the M-2 overlaps with the M -3 at Pindi Bhattian and runs in a north -west direction until it reaches Islamabad.

The M-2 has six lanes all the way, there are a number of service areas with laundry room and eating facilities along the highway.
