Maccabi București

Bucharest Maccabi sports club was a Romanian from Bucharest. He is one of the predecessor clubs Dinamo Bucharest and played two years in the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A.

History

Maccabi Bucharest was founded in 1919 by a Jewish businessman. In 1925 was added a Women's field handball Department.

While the football department of Maccabi regularly attended the games to the Romanian football championship, but could in the Bucharest region due to the large competition never qualify for the finals. For the same reason Maccabi was not one in 1932 and one of the founding members of the Divizia A. But two years later the Divizia B was lifted out of the baptism, the club was there. In 1935 the club, then his greatest success. In addition to the first place his squadron Divizia B ( in the promotion round Maccabi is, however, fail) Maccabi won the football tournament of the Maccabiade 1935 in Tel Aviv.

Also in the following years fighting Maccabi for promotion to the top flight until these efforts in 1940 were abruptly ended. In the course of also in Romania reinforcing and supported by official anti-Semitism, the club was excluded from the official championships.

After the end of the Second World War, the club was formed and was allowed to re- start with a local rivals under the name Ciocanul Bucharest in the season 1946/47, in Divizia A after the merger. After a successful relegation, the club merged in May 1948 - shortly before the end of the season 1947/48 - with the league rivals Unirea Tricolor Bucharest for new football club of the Romanian Ministry of Interior, Dinamo Bucharest.
