Maccabi Haifa B.C.
Maccabi Haifa B.C. is an Israeli basketball club from Haifa. The club is part of the sports club Maccabi Haifa, whose football team is the flagship.
History
The club was founded in 1953 and is thus one of the oldest founded in 1948 in Israel. Maccabi is a founding member of the first division, the Ligat ha Al. The club did in the league from the start hard against competition from Holon city rivals Hapoel and the two teams from Tel Aviv. The team had no chance in the fight for the title.
1971 and 1985 Maccabi lost in each case the Israeli Cup final against series champion Maccabi Tel Aviv.
The level of sports took at Maccabi in the 1990s steadily. In 1993, the club got off, two years later, had arrived in the third division. In 1999 was celebrated the return to the Ligat ha Al. After an initial good performance and various play-off starts followed descents and re- ascents. 2008 Maccabi rose for the last time and since then plays in the first division.
2009 and 2013 the club again lost two finals in the Cup competition. Instead, however, they won the 2013 championship final against Maccabi Tel Aviv.

The club plays its home games from the comprehensive 5,000 seats Romema Arena.
