Maccabi Petah Tikva F.C.
The Maccabi Petah Tikva FC (Hebrew מכבי פתח תקווה ) is an Israeli football club based in Petach Tikva. He plays in the second division of Israel, the League Leumit. The club colors are blue and white.
The club crest of the Star of David in the execution of the Maccabi movement is prominently whose aim is to promote the awareness of Jewish youth for religious, cultural and national values . The term is derived from the name of a Maccabi priestly family, the Maccabees, whose members are viewed as freedom fighters.
General
The club was founded in 1912 by Jewish students, who studied in the former capital of the Ottoman Empire Constantine Opel, so that the club is the second oldest Jewish football club after Maccabi Tel Aviv. In his club history, the club has been able in 1935 and 1952 to win the Israeli Cup twice, but never the Israeli championship. In the years 1995, 2000 and 2004, the team won the League Cup in Israel. The greatest success was able to record in the UEFA Cup 2005/06 season the club when Maccabi moved into the group stage, but retired there after four defeats. After the 2011/12 season we got off in the second-class league Leumit.
