Mack Easley

Mack Easley ( born October 14, 1916 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, † March 1, 2006 in Albuquerque, New Mexico) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1963 and 1966 he served in the state of New Mexico as lieutenant governor.

Career

Mack Easley, son of Mary Ellen and John Robert Easley was born during the First World War in Cherokee County. He served during the Second World War in the United States Army Air Forces. After the war he studied law at the University of Oklahoma Law School. He practiced as a lawyer then. In 1947 he moved with his wife Loyce Ann Rogers Easley to Hobbs in Lea County. In addition to his work as a lawyer, he worked as Assistant District Attorney. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

He sat 1951-1952 and 1955-1962 in the House of Representatives from New Mexico. During this time he held 1959-1960 the post of Speaker. He also had 1955-1964 presided at the Lea County Democratic Party. It also adopted in 1960 as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles in part. We chose him in 1962 as Vice- Governor of New Mexico. In 1964 he was re-elected. He held the post between 1963 and 1966.

He then returned to Hobbs. He was elected to the Senate from New Mexico, where he was just a term operates. During this time he was presiding over the Senate Democratic Caucus Committee. Subsequently, he was appointed District Judge and later elected. Governor Jerry Apodaca appointed him in 1975 as a judge on the New Mexico Supreme Court He was elected for a second term, however, came in 1982 from his post as Chief Justice back. At 63 years, his wife was a famous artist. He died on 1 March 2006 in Albuquerque. His body was then buried at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
