Mae Sot District

Amphoe Mae Sot ( Thai: อำเภอ แม่สอด ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) of Tak Province. The Tak province is located in the northern region of Thailand. The district capital is also called Mae Sot.

Location

Mae Sot is located about 80 kilometers west of the provincial capital of Tak on the border with Burma. The main river of the district is Maenam moei ( moei River ).

Traffic

This connects the Asian Highway AH1 Thailand and Burma, he is after the Three Pagodas Pass, the most important border crossing into Burma. In 1997, the "Thai - Myanmar Friendship Bridge " ( Thai - Burmese Friendship Bridge ) was completed. At the bridge there is a customs clearance point.

Amphoe Mae Sot is divided into ten sub-districts ( tambon), which continued in 88 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.
