Magdalena Lewy-Boulet
Magdalena Lewy Boulet, ( born August 1, 1973 in Jastrzębie Zdrój as Magdalena Lewy ) is an American marathon runner of Polish origin.
In 1988 she came with her mother and brother to Kiel to their previously emigrated father. Three years later the family moved to an uncle in Long Beach. She completed a degree at the University of California, Berkeley, California State University, East Bay as a master's degree in exercise physiology.
In 2001, she was second in the California International Marathon, and in 2002 she won the Pittsburgh Marathon and the San Francisco Marathon. In 2003 she was runner-up in Pittsburgh and finished at the World Half Marathon Championships in Vilamoura the 40th place. In 2004 she was fifth at the U.S. eliminator for the Olympic Games in Athens.
After a maternity leave in 2005, she won the 2006 OC Marathon and qualified with a 15th place at the New York City Marathon for the U.S. eliminator for the Beijing Olympic Games, which took place the day before the Boston Marathon 2008. She surprised the competition by soon sat down at the top and ran out a lead of almost two minutes. Although it was overtaken just before the end of the high favorite Deena Kastor, but the second place was ensured a place in the Olympic marathon. In Beijing, she was injured shortly before the event the knees as she pushed in a shuttle against a seat back, and had to retire after 20 km. In the fall she was eleventh in New York City.
In 2009 she was the half-marathon competition of the Houston Marathon as overall winner of American champion, second in the San Jose half-marathon and Sixth in New York City.
At the World Cross Country Championships in 2010, she came in 20th place and won with the U.S. team bronze. A second place at the Rotterdam Marathon was followed by winning the title at the U.S. Championships in the 20 - km road race and a seventh place at the Chicago Marathon.
The athlete with the nickname " Chewy " is 1.63 meters tall and weighs 50 kg. She is coached by Jack Daniels. With her husband, the former middle-distance runner Richard Boulet, she lives in Oakland, where she was until 2009 as an assistant coach at the University of California, Berkeley. From 2000 to 2007 she worked as a research manager at Sport Street Marketing, the manufacturer of GU Energy Gel, which still supports them as a sponsor.
