Magdeburger FFC
The Magdeburg FFC is a women's football club from Magdeburg. The club was founded in 1997 and abolished in 2009 promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga Nord.
History
The roots of the Magdeburg FFC are at SG craft Magdeburg. In the only official East championship in the 1990/91 season the team finished in last place. In 1991 the complete women's football department joined the SV Fortuna Magdeburg. Athletic, the team showed swaying in the following years. After a few years in the middle of the team struggled towards the end of the nineties against relegation. In 1997, the women's football department became self-employed and founded with the FSV Fortuna Magdeburg / Wolmirstedt own club. To bring the independence in the club name expression changed the club on 1 July 2003 his club name in Magdeburg FFC.
2004 missed the FFC only just to qualify for the newly introduced second Bundesliga. With just three points behind the upstart VfB Leipzig Magdeburg city were only sixth. Things went better in the same season in the DFB Cup: With a 3-0 win at Alemannia Altdöbern the club reached the knockout stage for the first time. There you retired after a 6-0 defeat against the FFC Heike Rheine. Overall, the Magdeburg city took part been ten times the DFB Cup.
In the last three seasons of the FFC was runner-up respectively. In the 2006/07 season the club struggled with the first FC Union Berlin and SV Blau-Weiss Hohen Neuendorf for the championship. However, the Magdeburg FFC had no license for the 2nd Bundesliga applied for and was therefore unable to ascend in the event of the championship. The ascent was made up by the Championship in 2009. In second-round play in the DFB - Pokal on 14 October 2009 against SG Essen- Schönebeck (1:4) played the FFC, whose homestead is usually the Heinrich Germer Stadium, in front of 500 spectators for the first time in the 27,000 -seat Magdeburg MDCC arena.
The second team plays in the Saxony- Anhalt- League North. In addition, the club three girls teams (B-, C- and D- juniors ) in the game mode.
