Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur

Mahayag is a Philippine municipality in the province of Zamboanga del Sur on the island of Mindanao. It has 45,015 inhabitants ( census May 1, 2010 ) living in 29 barangays. The community is described as partly urban.

The name of the village derives from the language of Visaya, the word Hayag mean lights or glare. The community was founded on March 9, 1960 an independent administrative unit of a Municipality.
