Maïjirgui is a rural municipality in the Department Tessaoua in Niger.

Geography

Maïjirgui is located at the junction of the Sahel to large landscape Sudan. The neighboring municipalities are Ourafane in the northeast, Garagoumsa in the east, Baoudetta, Koona and Korgom the southeast, Gazaoua in the south, Aguie in the southwest and Issawane, Kanan - Bakaché and Tessaoua in the northwest. The municipality is divided into 25 administrative villages, 16 traditional villages, 40 hamlets, four bearing and a water source. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village Maïjirgui.

History

1899 were Paul Voulet and Julien Chanoine, the leader of the notorious for their cruelty French military expedition mission Voulet - Chanoine, killed by their own soldiers in Maïjirgui and buried there under a Anabaum.

The rural community Maïjirgui went out in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform from that part of the canton Tessaoua, which was not allocated to the municipality Tessaoua.
