He starts at the source of the White River Main on ox-head at Bishop Green and at the source of the Red Main river in Creußen. After approximately 50 km you the two source arms unite at Kulmbach to the Main. The Main Bike Trail leads from there via Bamberg, Schweinfurt, Würzburg, Aschaffenburg, Hanau, Offenbach and Frankfurt to the Rhine in Mainz -Kastel, which is opposite the center of Mainz.

Ways quality

The General German Bicycle Club ( ADFC ) recorded from the way in 2008 as the first German long-distance cycle with five stars. According ADFC 90 % of the cycle track through natural and scenic areas. Furthermore, 90 % are paved, and 77 % of the track wider than 2.50 meters. Signposted is only one side of the river, although the Main river stretches is ridden on both sides of the wheel.
