Hainburg, Germany

Hainburg is a municipality in the district of Offenbach in Hesse in Germany.

Geography

Hainburg is one of 13 cities and municipalities in the district of Offenbach. It lies on the edge of the Rhine -Main area on the banks of the Main, east of Frankfurt am Main. To the north is the city of Hanau ( Main-Kinzig -Kreis). The municipality extends over almost 16 km ² and is located in the southern part of Hesse, and is bordered to the east by the state of Bavaria.

Hainburg consists of the two districts

  • Grove City and
  • Small Krotzenburg, in small Krotzenburg about 2,000 inhabitants live less than in grove city.

Hainburg is bordered to the north by the town of Hanau and the community Großkrotzenburg (both Main- Kinzig-Kreis ) in the east (on the Main River ) to the communities Kahl and Charles Stone (both in Aschaffenburg ), in the south on the town Blessed city and in the west to the cities and Rodgau Obertshausen.

History

The community of Hainburg was on 1 January 1977 as part of the Hessian local government reform by the merger of the previously independent municipalities grove city and Post - Krotzenburg by law.

Policy

  • Mayor: The acting mayor since 1993 Bernhard Bessel (CDU ) was re-elected on 12 September 2004 at the first ballot with 74.8 % of the vote for a third term. The turnout was 79.1 %.

Traffic

The grove city's railway station is located on the Odenwald railway, which connects the town with Hanau, Frankfurt, wholesale Umstadt Wiebelsbach and Erbach.

To the west the Offenbacher Landstraße / L3416 leads to B45 and A3, to the north it's all about the L3065 direction Hanau and Offenbach am Main and south to Blessed city. After closure of the Main ferry between small - and large Krotzenburg Krotzenburg in 1999, the only remaining connection on the main pedestrian walkway over the weir Krotzenburg.
