Malá Skála

Mala Skala ( German Kleinskal ) is a municipality in the Liberec Region in the Czech Republic. It lies in the valley of the Jizera (Iser ) 10 km south-east of Jablonec nad Nisou, 6 km north of Turnov and has 1053 inhabitants.

Through the village the road leads Europe 65 from Prague to the Polish border in Harrachov and continue to Jelenia Góra. Mala Skala has a station on the railway line between Liberec Pardubice, the former German South-North railway connection. There are direct rail connections with fast trains to Prague, Liberec and Pardubice.

The municipality of Mala Skala consists of the districts Bobov ( Bobow ) Křížky ( Krischek ), Labe ( rennet ), Mala Skala ( Kleinskal ) Mukařov ( Mukarschow ) Sněhov ( Sniehow ) Vranové 1.díl ( Wranow Part 1 ) Vranové 2.díl ( Wranow part 2), Zaborci ( Sabortsch ) and Želeč ( Scheletz ). Basic settlement units are Bobov, Filka, Křížky, Labe, Mala Skala, Mukařov, Sněhov, Vranové 1 díl, Vranové 2 díl, Zaborci and Želeč.

Attractions

  • Rock castle Vranov with the famous Pantheon
  • Natural Monument Suché rocks ( " drought Rock" ) - a reminiscent of the Dolomite rock formation east of the village
  • Boučkův statek - used a remarkable, typical example of the folk architecture of the Krkonoše foothills, now a gallery and restaurant (U Boučku )
  • Castle Zbiroh - remnants of a larger castle south of the village
  • Drábovna - rock fortress and rock labyrinth
