Malachov

Malachov ( Malachau German, Hungarian Malakóperesény - to 1907 Malako ) is a town in central Slovakia with 1063 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) and belongs to Okres Banská Bystrica, kraj a circle of Banskobystrický.

Geography

The community is located at the transition from the valley of Zvolenska kotlina in the Kremnitz mountains. Through the village of Bach Malachovský Brook, which flows a few kilometers downstream in the Hron flows. The center is located at an altitude of 505 m nm and is five kilometers from Banská Bystrica.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1327 as Malahow writing, then in 1422 as Maleho. Historically, it was in the village of strong German settlement as a result of German colonization of the Hungarian mining areas. In the local silver mines, iron and mercury were recovered. In the 16th century the village was attacked by the Turks, and finally burned down in 1599.

1828 are 38 houses and 205 inhabitants recorded, which were mainly engaged in agriculture. After 1907, the village Dolné Prsany (then Alsóperesény ) incorporated.

Until 1918, belonged to the lying in the county Sohl place the Kingdom of Hungary and came after Czechoslovakia or Slovakia today.

From 1970 to 1992 Malachov was part of the town of Banská Bystrica.
