Maquet GmbH is a German medical device manufacturer based in Rastatt. Maquet is a subsidiary of the publicly -listed Swedish group Getinge AB and is one of the leading suppliers of medical equipment for emergency rooms, operating rooms and intensive care units.

Maquet has an annual turnover of more than 1.5 billion euros and has subsidiaries worldwide, including about 6,300 employees. There are production lines at 11 locations in Germany ( Rastatt, Hirrlingen, Hechingen ), France ( Ardon, La Ciotat ), Sweden ( Solna ), Turkey ( Antalya), China ( Suzhou ) and the USA (Wayne, Fairfield, Montvale ).

Maquet covers three areas, the so-called business divisions:

  • Surgical Workplaces ( Rastatt ) - Surgery Room Equipment
  • Critical Care ( Solna ) - anesthesia delivery systems and jobs in the intensive care
  • Cardiovascular ( Rastatt and USA) - Products and systems for counterpulsation, vascular and cardiac surgery.

History

Creation and relocation to Rastatt

The Maquet was founded in 1838 in Heidelberg, Germany by Johann Friedrich Fischer and placed first patient lifts and other products for the healthcare ago. 1876 ​​took over Curt Maquet the company in 1933 moved its headquarters to Maquet Rastatt.

As a forum for dialogue between business, academia and hospitals, the Surgical Academy was founded in 1999.

Takeover and acquisitions

Maquet 2000 became the Medical Systems business area of the Swedish Getinge Group. 2003 was the takeover of Siemens Life Support Systems ( Solna ) as Business Critical Care Division and the Jostra Group as Business Division Cardiopulmonary. The Jostra group consisted of Jostra ( Hechingen, founded in 1982 by Lars Sunnanväder ) and the company Polystan (1958 by Erik Kyvsgaard founded, acquired in 2001 by Jostra ). In 2003, Maquet the Oty GmbH ( telemedicine ). 2008 followed the divisions Cardiac and Vascular Surgery, Boston Scientific Corp.. with parts of its predecessor Guidant.
