Marcel Matanin

Marcel Matanin (* December 15 1973 in Vranov nad Topľou ) is a Slovak long-distance runner.

Overall, he was twice national champion in the 5000 m ( 2001, 2003 ), five times the 10,000 m (1996, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006 ), four times in the half marathon (2001-2003, 2007), once in the 3000 m steeplechase ( 1999) and ten times in cross country skiing on the long-haul (1996, 2000-2008 ).

In the World Half Marathon Championships in 1996, he finished 86th and at the World Cross Country Championships in 2000 the 100th place. In 2001, he came at the Berlin Half Marathon to 14th place, 2002 and 2004, he won the Dresden- Marathon Half Marathon competition, and in 2003 he was fourth in the Kosice Marathon. In 2004 he qualified as a sixth of the Zurich Marathon for the marathon of the Olympic Games in Athens, in which he broke in on rank 81.

He was a total rollercoaster of Košice Slovak Marathon Marathon champion in 2005. The following year he won the Leipzig Marathon and defended with the overall 13th place his national title in Košice. In 2007, he won again in Leipzig.
