Marcia Haydée

Márcia Haydée Salaverry Pereira da Silva ( born April 18, 1937 in Niterói, Brazil) is a Brazilian dancer, choreographer and ballet director. It is regarded as one of the great ballerinas of the 20th century and is also recognized for her acting skills. Famous dance partner Rudolf Nureyev were about, Mikhail Baryshnikov and Richard Cragun.

Life

Márcia Haydée grew up in Rio de Janeiro as the daughter of a physician. Her international career began with the debut in Rio de Janeiro in 1953. 1961 she took a commitment of the General Director Walter Erich Schäfer to collaborate on the Stuttgart Ballet, where she was under the direction of John Cranko prima ballerina.

The breakthrough to international fame she succeeded in 1962 in Romeo and Juliet, together with Richard Cragun. The Stuttgart Ballet was one of the leading ballet companies around the world. After the death of John Cranko took over in 1974, first the American Glen Tetley, the Directorate of Force, 1976 Haydée was appointed ballet director. She also worked with other contemporary dancers and choreographers - as with John Neumeier (he has dedicated to her his ballet La Dame aux Camelias ) and Maurice Béjart. In Stuttgart, she promoted specifically the offspring such as William Forsythe - now one of the most important choreographers in the world. It also showed his own choreography: 1987 Sleeping Beauty and Giselle in 1989. From 1994 to 1996 she led both the ballet company from Stuttgart and from Santiago de Chile. Márcia Haydée 1996 took leave of the Stuttgart Ballet. Since 2002, she passes back the ballet of Santiago de Chile at the Teatro Municipal, she goes with the ensemble on tour and now shows dance theater. In March 2009, Haydée was awarded the Grand Cross of Merit with Star.

Haydée lived 16 years with Richard Cragun. Since 1995 she has been married to her yoga teacher Günther Schöberl.
