Marco Wölfli

Marco Wölfli ( born August 22, 1982 in Grenchen) is a Swiss football player and goalkeeper at BSC Young Boys and goalkeeper of the Swiss national team.

Career

He began his career in the 1997/1998 season at Fulgor Grenchen. The following season he played for FC Solothurn and already in the 1999/2000 season changed the then 17 -year-old to the BSC Young Boys. He then went on loan for two years to FC Thun, where he completed a total of 14 games. In the following season, the BSC Young Boys committed him again. Here he was first choice goalkeeper before competition received by Patrick Bettoni in the following season. National

The national debut was Marco Wölfli on 19 November 2008 in a friendly against Finland. In the national team he is currently the number two behind Diego Benaglio. On 15 October 2009 Wölfli played for the sick Benaglio against Israel. In this game, Switzerland secured with a 0-0 direct qualification for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. In this tournament, Wölfli belonged to the Switzerland of the squad, but came to no use.
