Marcos Freitas

Marcos Freitas ( born April 8, 1988 in Funchal) is a Portuguese table tennis player. It was 2011 European Champion in doubles and qualified in 2008 and 2012 to participate in the Olympic Games.

Career

Marcos Freitas was in his youth the best players in Europe. In European Youth Championships he won six titles in individual 2002 and 2006, in the double 2003 ( with Antonin Black, CZE ), 2004 ( with Tiago Apolonia ) and 2005 ( with Tomislav Kolarek, HRV ) and in the Mixed 2005 ( with Daniela Dodean ROU).

In adults, European Championships Marcos Freitas reached in 2008 with Tiago Apolonia double the semifinals. In the same year he qualified for participation in the individual competition of the Olympic Games. In 2011 he was European champion in doubles with Andrej Gaćina. He also took part in the 2012 Summer Olympics, he won the 2014 DHS Europe Cup.

Since 2004 (until 2012 ) he was represented in all nine World Table Tennis Championship, but never came close of medal ranks.

Clubs

Marcos Freitas played from 1994 to 2003 with the Portuguese club Desportivo Grupo do Estreito, then until 2006 at the Clube Desportivo de São Roque. In 2006 he joined the German Bundesliga TTC Jülich, joined the 2008 club Borussia Dusseldorf and won with the men's team, the German Cup and the Champions League. A year later he returned to the TTC Jülich. In the 2010/2011 season he played at TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen, he is since 2011 in France, the Cergy Pontoise As active.
