Marcus Popp

Marcus Popp ( born September 23, 1981 in Floeha ) is a German national volleyball player. He is also active in beach volleyball.

Career

Marcus Popp lived at the age of seven to 14 years in France and began his career at the French second division club AS Messine Paris. After his return he first played in his native Saxony TSV Floeha. From later following PSV Chemnitz, he finally moved to Bundesliga VV Leipzig. In 2003 he came to VfB Friedrichshafen, with whom he a year later the DVV Cup and won the Double in 2005 managed. During his time at VfB he was also nominated for the first time the national team. He then went to Italy. With the second division Taviano he won in the 2005/06 season the Cup of the second division. From 2006 to 2008 he played in Gabeca Montichiari. At the World Championships in Japan Marcus Popp reached with the national team finished ninth at the 2007 European Championships in Russia, it was enough for fifth place and at the Olympic Games in Beijing in August 2008, was again ninth. He then moved to Marmi Lanza Verona, 2009 Volley Forlì, again in 2010 to Copra Piacenza and 2011 Marmi Lanza Verona. 2012 Popp went to French giants Tours VB, with whom he won the 2013 French Cup and the championship. 2013 Popp moved to Turkey to Maliye Milli Piyango Ankara.

Popp also plays for several years in volleyball. With his partner Eric Koreng he reached the final of the U23 World Cup in 2003. In 2005 he reached with Kay Matysik ranked third in the German Championship in Timmendorfer beach. The following year he played with Manuel Rieke only two tournaments of the German series and the duo won both Binz and in Sankt Peter- Ording. In the latter tournament Popp joined again in 2007 with Björn Andrae, his teammates from the halls Team, at. 2009, the duo Andrae / Popp was even German vice-champion.
