María Caridad Colón

María Caridad Colón ( María Caridad Colón reen - Salazar, born March 25, 1958 in Baracoa ) is a former Cuban javelin thrower and Olympic gold medalist.

At the Olympic Games in 1980 Ute judge threw out the GDR in the qualification with 66.66 m Olympic record. Eighth qualification was María Colón with 62.42 m. In the final, Colon improved in the first attempt with 68,40 m the Olympic record and won before Saida Gunba from the Soviet Union and the two throwers from the GDR Hommola Ute and Ute Richter as the first Cuban Olympic Gold.

In 1983, she won, as early as 1979, in the Pan American Championships. At the World Athletics Championships 1983, she was charged with 62.04 Eighth.
