María Cristina Kiehr

María Cristina Kiehr (* 1965 in Tandil, Buenos Aires Province ) is a native of Argentina soprano who has specialized particularly in the Baroque vocal and ancient music.

Biography

María Cristina Kiehr descended from Danish ancestors. Her first musical training ( violin ), she received in her native Argentina Tandil city. At age 17, she discovered her soft, delicate voice and a love of early music. After only one year of singing lessons in Argentina, she decided to go in 1983 to further vocal studies to Europe to educate yourself with René Jacobs and the Schola Cantorum in Baroque singing. At the same time she studied with the opera singer Eva Krasznai - Gombos in Basel vocal technique.

Maria Cristina Kiehr is one of the undisputed sizes of Baroque vocal and ancient music. Particularly, Maria Cristina Kiehr devoted to the music of the early Baroque. She has co-founded the ensemble La Colombina, which mainly focused on the repertoire of Spanish and Latin American Renaissance. Her operatic debut was Kiehr in Innsbruck in Cavalli's Giasone under René Jacobs. Her operatic repertoire includes all major roles by Monteverdi, Purcell, Telemann, Gluck and Vivaldi. But was also in many lesser known works on the stage.
