Maria Letizia Bonaparte

Maria Letizia Bonaparte ( born November 20, 1866 in Paris, † October 25, 1926 in Moncalieri ) was the second wife of Amadeo, Duke of Aosta and the former king of Spain and son of the Italian king Victor Emmanuel II

It was in Paris as the daughter of Napoléon Joseph Charles Paul Bonaparte, son of Jerome Bonaparte and thus nephew of Emperor Napoleon I and his wife Maria Clotilde of Savoy, a daughter of the Italian king Victor Emmanuel II on November 20, 1866 born. It was named after Napoleon's mother.

On September 11, 1888, she married her maternal uncle, Duke Amadeo after his first wife Maria del Pozzo della Cisterna had died early in 1876.

The marriage went forth a son:

  • Umberto Maria Vittorio Amedeo Giuseppe (June 22, 1889 - October 19, 1918 ), Duke of Salemi, who fell in the First World War

Maria Letizia Bonaparte died 60 years old in Moncalieri and was buried in the family vault of the House of Savoy in the Basilica di Superga in Turin.
