Salemi

Salemi is a municipality in the province of Trapani in Sicily region of Italy, with 10,790 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012).

History

The community is Sicanian and Elymian origin. The ancient name was Halicyae. In Roman times the city was one of the free cities of Sicily. In the Middle Ages ruled by the Arabs.
