Mark Fuller (wrestler)

Mark Albert Fuller ( born March 25, 1961 in Roseville, California ) is a former American professional wrestler. He was a three -time Olympian and Pan-American Champion 1991 in Greco-Roman style in the paper weight.

Career

Mark Fuller started as a teenager at a high school with the rings. He began, like any high school wrestler in free style, but soon noticed that he has talent for the Greco-Roman style and turned successfully to this style around. After high school he attended Brigham Young University, where he trained as a physical education teacher.

In 1979, his international career began. He was in Colorado Springs Junior World Champion in the age group " Juniors ", which is the age group up to 18 years. He won there in Greco-Roman wrestling in the paper weight before Bernd Scherer from the Federal Republic of Germany and Erwin Goris from the Netherlands. In 1981 he was in Vancouver and Junior World Champion in the age group " espoir ", which is the age group up to 20 years of age. He left there in the paper weight Magyatdin Allachwerdijew from the Soviet Union, Bratan Zenow from Bulgaria, Bernd Scherer and Vincenzo Maenza from Italy behind. Maenza later became Olympic champion, Allachwerdijew and Zenow world champion.

Mark Fuller was able to achieve as a senior no such success. He managed, however, to qualify in the United States four times for the 1980 Olympics until 1992. In Moscow in 1980, he could not go to the start of these Games because of the boycott by the United States. 1984 Los Angeles lost in the paper weight against Li Haisheng from China ( 7:8 techn. Dots) and against Salih Bora from Turkey ( 2:6 techn. Dots) and got away with it on the 8th rank. In Seoul in 1988, he won in the paper weight against Ikazu Saito from Japan and suffered concise point defeats that forced him to exit then against Jon Rønningen from Norway ( 4:6 ) and Vincenzo Maenza ( 4:7 ). Unfortunately the exact place he reached in Seoul, held in any source. However, the placement should be between nine and twelve place. At the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona Mark Fuller scored a victory against Nik Zagronitschni from Israel, against Wilber Sánchez from Cuba and Iliuţă Dăscălescu from Romania but he lost and ended up with it on the 11th Place.

Mark Fuller also launched a number of times at the World Championships and reached thereby similar placements as at the Olympic Games. 1981 in Oslo, he finished in the paper weight the 11th Place and in 1983 in Kiev the 7th Place. In 1985, he also launched at the World Championships in Norway Kolbotn, but the place he fought there, nowhere recorded. But he is not expected to have placed in the top ten. At the World Cup 1989 in Martigny, he came on the 9th Place and in the World Championships 1991 in Varna on the 10th Place.

Much more successful cut Mark Fuller at the Pan American Games and the Pan American Championships from. In 1983, he came at the Pan American Games in Caracas flyweight behind the Cubans Edmundo Miranda to 2nd place and 1988 he won at the Pan American Championships Flyweight behind Pedro Roque Favier from Cuba and Juan Bernardino Cortes from Mexico 3rd place. The greatest success of his career in the seniors he eventually achieved at the Pan American Games in 1991 in Havana, because he won there in paper weight before Geovany Mato from Cuba & Jose A. Sabino from the Dominican Republic.

Mark Fuller ended after the Olympic Games in 1992 his career as an active wrestler. He then worked as a physical education teacher and coach at various rings teams or organizations, where he usually took care of the offspring. At the moment he lives in Orem, Utah.
