Mark Owuya

Mark Owuya ( born July 18, 1989 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey goaltender who stands since 2011 with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League under contract and play for their farm team Toronto Marlies in the American Hockey League. His brother Sebastian Owuya is also a professional hockey player.

Career

Mark Owuya began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Djurgårdens IF, for the first team he was in the Elitserien, the highest Swedish league, active from 2007 to 2011. His greatest success with the team was the runner-up in the season 2009/10. In 2010 he participated with his team at the European Trophy and was the goalkeeper with the best catch rate and the lowest Gegentorschnitts the tournament. In the season 2010/11 he had in the main round with 92.7 percent in the best catch rate of all Elitserien - Torwärte while his Gegentorschnitt in his 32 missions with gates was 2:18 per game. In the playoffs, he was even able to increase at its seven operations on a catch rate of 93.4 percent and reduce its Gegentorschnitt to 1.66 goals per game.

In April 2011 Owuya was engaged by the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League, for their farm team Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League and ECHL Reading Royals of the he plays.

Internationally

For Sweden Owuya took part in the U18 World Youth Championship in 2007 and the U20 World Youth Championship 2009. In the 2007 U18 World Championships he won the bronze, at the 2009 U20 World Championship silver medal with his team.
