Mark Rowland

Mark Rowland ( born March 7, 1963 in Horsham ) is a former British long-distance runner, who was especially successful in the obstacle course.

At the IAAF World Indoor Athletics Championships 1987 in Indianapolis, he finished fourth in the 3000 -meter run. The most significant success of his career, he celebrated a year later at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul. In the steeplechase he won the bronze medal behind Julius Kariuki and Peter Koech. At the end of the season he won the Zurich New Year's run.

Rowland missed winning the title in the steeplechase at the European Championships in 1990 in Split just barely. On the last obstacle he stumbled and had to let the Italians Francesco Panetta. After that prevented persistent hamstring problems further outstanding results Rowlands. An exception was his fourth place finish at the European Championships in Helsinki in 1994.

Mark Rowland is 1,83 m tall and had a competition weight of 68 kg. After his retirement he took up a position as track coach.
