Markus Hediger

Markus Hediger ( born March 31, 1959 in Zurich ) is a Swiss writer and translator.

Life

Markus Hediger spent his childhood and youth in Reinach. After leaving school at the New Canton Aarau he studied from 1980 Romance languages ​​and literary criticism (the latter with Werner Weber) at the University of Zurich and graduated in 1990 from. 1984/85 he was assistant at the Lycée Montaigne German in Bordeaux.

In 1975, he discovered France, especially Paris. There he learned in 1979 the Lebanese poet and playwright Georges Schehadé know who opened new horizons for him and whom he visited regularly until his death in 1989. More important for the development of his personality and art mind encounters were the poet Erika Burkart and Eugène Guillevic and the novelist Walter Vogt, Julien Green and Georges Borgeaud.

Very early on began to Markus Hediger to write adventure stories and later stories and a novel in German. But in 1977, he began to acquire the French language: even today it serves him to express personal things, whereas his mother language, German is the language into which he translated novels, short stories, poems and articles from the French. 1978 was a first lyric text in French, but only 18 years later, his first volume of poetry, Ne pas la pierre retournez appeared (1996). Also in 1978, he went to a new translation of the play Huis Clos by Jean -Paul Sartre and the one-act Lucienne de Carpentras by Yves Navarre.

During his studies he published his first translation: The exile of Grado ( 1984) by Jacques Mercanton. This was followed by more than twenty publications after 1990.

Markus Hediger from 1991 to 2002 member of the group Olten, he at CEATL 1999-2002 - Conseil Européen des Associations de Traducteurs Littéraires - represented. He held from 2003 to 2013 when the newly formed all-Swiss Association of Authors of Switzerland ( AdS ) The same function.
