Markus Karl ( born February 14, 1986 in Vilsbiburg ) is a German football player.

Career

Karl began at the age of five years playing football in the youth of the TSV Vilsbiburg and moved to SpVgg Greuther Fürth, where he came to a short stint in the 2nd Bundesliga 2004 / 05 2003. In summer 2005, he moved on to Hamburg, where he signed a contract until 2008. For the Hanseatic League he played four times in the UEFA Intertoto Cup and the Regional Team. In the Bundesliga, he brought it compared with only 13 minutes operating time in three games of the season 2005/ 06 and nine minutes in two games before the winter break 2006/07.

Karl changed therefore be in the winter break of 2006/ 07 for SpVgg Greuther Fürth. During the winter break of the 2007/08 season he was loaned for six months to the third division FC Ingolstadt. With FC Ingolstadt 04 he played the entire second half and managed to move up to the 2nd Bundesliga. He was acquired from FC Ingolstadt and graduated from there in 2011 to a total of 15 Regional, 27 third division and second division 54 games.

From the season 2011/12 Karl plays for 1.FC Union Berlin. He got there a contract until 2013, which is automatically extended in case of promotion to the first division in 2015. In his debut season for the Berlin Karl could play in the root formation and denied 33 of the possible 34 season games.

End of January 2013 Karl moved to league rivals 1.FC Kaiserslautern, where he signed a contract until the end of June 2016. He made his debut on 20 Round 1-0 away win against TSV 1860 München in the grid. His first goal for the Red Devils, he scored on February 8, 2013 in a 3-0 home win against Dynamo Dresden, it was to make the score 1-0.

For Germany, the young talent has been used twice in the U18 and U19 once.
