Career

Clubs

Sippel plays since 1998 as the goalkeeper in 1 FC Kaiserslautern, after he had come from the SV 1911 Bad Durkheim. Since the second division season 2006/ 07 he is part of the professional cadres of the "Red Devils ". Previously, he stood for the second team in the Regionalliga and Oberliga goal.

On 19 October 2007 Sippel came off the bench in the second league match against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for the injured goalkeeper Florian Fromlowitz and so came to his first professional use. Sippel completed all the remaining games of the season 2007/ 08 and the start of 2008 extended his contract until 2011. After the change of Florian Fromlowitz to Hannover 96 Sippel was for season 2008/09 on the jersey number 1 of the Palatinate.

After a broken arm in the 2008 /09 season he lost his place in the meantime to Luis Robles, but it could win back again for season 2009/10. In 2010 he rose to the FCK to the Bundesliga. In January 2011, he extended his contract by two years until 2013, two months later, he lost for the second time in his professional career his place a: . Sippel was represented initially because of the flu by Kevin Trapp. After Trapp offered good performance, this also graduated from the remaining games of the season. During the summer break the goalkeeper question was open again, but ultimately remained Kevin Trapp at the start of the new season 2011/12, the "number one ". After an injury Trapps Sippel was promoted in the back round again to the goalkeeper. With a height of 1.80 m, it is the smallest goalkeeper in the Bundesliga. After relegation in 2011/12 and the disposal of Kevin Trapp to Eintracht Frankfurt Sippel was the number one in goal for the Red Devils again. Prior to the 2012/13 season is Sippel known despite the passage in League 2 for FCK and extended his contract until 30 June 2015.

National

On 5 February 2008 Sippel was nominated for the international match against Belgium in Koblenz for the first time by Dieter Eilts for the U-21 national team. His first try for the U- 21 team he had on 5 September 2008 in Wuppertal against Northern Ireland. On 6 May 2010 he was appointed by national coach Joachim Loew for the match against Malta in Aachen in the squad of the national team, but did not play.

Like its predecessors, Roman Weidenfeller, Tim Wiese and Florian Fromlowitz he was trained by Gerald Ehrmann.

Others

In July 2011, investigations were launched against Sippel due to unauthorized removal from the scene of an accident and drunk driving. Besides Sippel players Ivo Iličević and Thanos Petsos were involved in the drive, followed by brothel visit. The Kaiserslautern prosecutor asked for a penal Sippel about 36 000 euro fine and nine months loss of license. Sippel admitted to have the night of July 3, rammed a parked car in a drunken state and with his white BMW M3 and then committed hit and run and accepted the penalty order.

Before he began his professional career, Sippel completed an apprenticeship as a baker in his father owned bakery in Bad Durkheim.
