Mateusz Sawrymowicz

Mateusz Sawrymowicz ( born April 22, 1987 in Lublin ) is a Polish swimmer.

Career

With the World Swimming Championships in Melbourne in 2007 he became world champion over 1,500 m freestyle, 1.35 seconds ahead of the Russians Yuri Prilukov in 14:45,94 minutes. He thus replaced the Australian series champion Grant Hackett, who could not intervene in the fight for the medals. Shortly before, he had already won the Junior World Championships.

At the Olympic Games in 2008 Sawrymowicz missed in 14:50,30 min. just the final and finished second in the overall standings to ninth.
