Mathieu Darche

Mathieu Darche (* November 26, 1976 in Saint -Laurent, Quebec ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who was most recently with the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League contract.

Career

Darche first played from 1996 to 2000 at McGill University, where he increased his offensive productivity from year to year. In his last year he scored in 26 games 62 points scorer.

After he was not selected in the NHL Entry Draft, took him to the beginning of the 2000/01 season, the Columbus Blue Jackets, who went to their first NHL season, under contract. There he played the following three seasons mostly in the farm team, the Syracuse Crunch. During this time, he played just 24 NHL games, where he was able to record two points.

At the beginning of the 2003/ 04 Darche moved to the Nashville Predators, but he was allowed to accumulate in a single NHL game. Most of the time he spent with the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL, with which he could win the Calder Cup at the end of the playoffs. The lockout season spent the Canadians at the Hershey Bears, before he moved to the 2005/06 season in the German Ice Hockey League for EV Duisburg.

After only one year in Germany Darche signed in July 2006 a contract with the San Jose Sharks, in their new farm team, the Worcester Sharks, put him. As the team went in his first AHL season, Darche put on some franchise records. He scored the first goal of the franchise history, recorded the first hat-trick and set a record with five points scorer in a game. On 16 February 2007, he gave the away game against the Columbus Blue Jackets NHL his debut for San Jose. He left the organization of the Sharks after the 2006/07 season and joined as a free agent for one year to the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he developed a regular place in the squad and 73 season games played. However, his contract not extended the Lightning, which were due in summer 2008 by a change of ownership in transition. As a result, Darche signed a one-year contract with the Premier League rivals Buffalo Sabres, but where he could not prevail in the NHL squad itself, but was sent to the AHL to the Portland Pirates. After just one season in Portland the Montreal Canadiens took him under contract. The season 2009/10 he spent in both the NHL squad Canadiens as well as in farm team for the Hamilton Bulldogs in the American Hockey League. In the following season, Darche developed a regular place in Montreal.
