Matthias N'Gartéri Mayadi

Matthias N'Gartéri Mayadi (* 1942 in Bedaya, † November 19, 2013 ) was a Chadian minister and Roman Catholic Archbishop of N'Djamena.

Life

Matthias N'Gartéri Mayadi received after studying in France on 30 December 1978, the ordination.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on October 28, 1985 Auxiliary Bishop of Sarh and Titular Bishop of Thuburnica. The Archbishop of Ouagadougou, Paul Cardinal Zoungrana MAFR, donated to him on 12 April of the next year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Charles Louis Joseph Vandame SJ, Archbishop of N'Djamena, and Henri Veniat SJ, Bishop of Sarh.

On March 7, 1987, he was appointed Bishop of Sarh. On June 11, 1990, he was appointed Bishop of Moundou. On 31 July 2003 he was appointed by Pope John Paul II appointed Archbishop of N'Djamena. Matthias N'Gartéri Mayadi was considered morally and politically very influential in Chad.

He died on November 19, 2013 in a ambulance on the way to Lyon from the effects of a stroke suffered a week earlier.
