Mauro Matías Zárate ( born March 18, 1987 in Haedo, Buenos Aires Province) is an Argentine football player.

Club career

CA Velez Sarsfield

The striker has already played in the youth at CA Velez Sarsfield. On 21 April 2004 he made his debut for the first team in the Argentine Primera División. In the Apertura 2006 Zárate was with twelve gates, together with Rodrigo Palacio scorer.

Al-Sadd/Birmingham City

In June 2007 he joined the club in Qatar Al- Sadd.

On January 21, 2008 Zárate then moved on loan until the end of the season - plus an option for a permanent commitment, then - in the English Premier League for Birmingham City.

Lazio / Inter Milan

After the descent of the Blues Zárate left England towards Lazio in the Italian Serie A, where he again initially on loan, with the later option of a permanent obligation hired. Following successful loan - Zárate scored 13 league goals, among others - Lazio drew this option and ordered the striker for 20 million euros. In Lazio Zárate signed a contract until 2014 at an annual salary of about two million euros. But in his second season with the Romans, the striker was able to achieve only three league goals in his third season at least nine.

31 August 2011 Zárate was loaned to Inter Milan. The Nerazzurri will also receive an option to purchase. In the second group match of the Champions League season 2011/12 on 27 September 2011 he scored his first goal in the Milan jersey, when he scored the 3-2 winning goal at CSKA Moscow. Overall, however, he scored only three goals for the Nerazzurri in 31 competitive game appearances.

After the end of the loan at Inter Zárate returned to the 2012/13 season with Lazio back. Already in November 2012 it was announced that Zárate Lazio will leave in January 2013 because he no longer part of the starting eleven, but highest paid player of the Romans. In December 2012, Zárate was suspended from Lazio, as he has refused to take a seat in a league match against Inter Milan in the bank.

National

With the Argentine U -20 team Zárate won the Junior World Cup in 2007.

Trivia

Mauro's older brother Sergio played in the 1990s in the Bundesliga for 1.FC Nuernberg and Hamburger SV and brought it there on a total of 80 games and 23 goals. He now acts as Mauro's managers and consultants.
