Megève

Megève is a municipality with 3516 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ), in Haute -Savoie.

Megève is a ski resort in the Savoy Alps.

Winter tourism

The winter tourism took its beginning in 1913. The boom began in 1921, as Baron Maurice de Rothschild, the first luxury hotel opened after no longer appealed to him as St. Moritz Ski Resort. In the 1950s Megève was one of Europe's most popular ski resorts and attracted many celebrities.

In addition to Megève ski area itself includes the towns Combloux and Côte 2000. It reaches up to an altitude of 2,350 meters. Megève has twinned with Oberstdorf in the Allgäu.
