The Mein Schiff 2 (until 2008 Mercury, then by April 2011 Celebrity Mercury ) is a cruise ship of TUI Cruises. After conversion by the Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven the ship with 77 302 GT was measured. With a length of 262.5 m and a width of 32.2 m, the Mein Schiff 2 corresponds to Panamax form factor.

History

The ship was completed on November 2, 1997 by the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg and the third and last ship of the Century Class to the shipping company Celebrity Cruises (a subsidiary shipping company Royal Caribbean Cruise Line ) delivered it as initially under the name Mercury and later Celebrity Mercury operation.

In spring 2011 the ship for TUI Cruises ( joint venture of the German TUI AG and the Norwegian- American Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.. ) Was rebuilt and brought to the baptism on 14 May 2011 under the name Mein Schiff 2 again to ride. The purchase price of the vessel was not disclosed. The reconstruction works were, as with the Mein Schiff 1, at Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven carried out, it puts the cost to approximately 50 million euros. The ship can accommodate passengers in 956 cabins in 1912 (with 2 pers. / Unit). There are 652 outside cabins, 427 cabins are equipped with a balcony or veranda. The breakdown of the ship and the names of the decks are based on the gross structure of Mein Schiff 1 The maximum speed is 21.5 knots.

Use

After the takeover by TUI Cruises in 2011, Mein Schiff 2 from Hamburg and Kiel went to Northern Europe, as well as in summer 2012. The fall season spent the ship in the western and eastern Mediterranean, where it is also used from April to November 2013. In the winter months the Caribbean is traversed, with the exception of New Year's Day 2012/2013, where Dubai is their port of departure for cruises to the Emirates. These cruises will offer the Mein Schiff 2 in the winter season 2014/2015.
