Lloyd Werft

The Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven AG is a shipyard in Bremerhaven, which was founded in 1857 as a workshop of the North German Lloyd shipping company and today in particular, performs repair, conversion and extension of large vessels. History

The shipyard was first workshop and yard of the North German Lloyd ( NDL). The North German Lloyd merged in 1970 with the Hapag Hapag -Lloyd AG. In 1973 the shipyard was dissolved as a company and changed its name to Hapag Lloyd Werft GmbH. Then took over in 1984 the Bremer Vulkan shipyard operation and acquired its current name Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven GmbH.

After the bankruptcy of Bremer Vulkan 1996, the Lloyd shipyard became independent.

In order to repair cruise ships in the Caribbean, was opened a repair yard in the Bahamas in 2000. However, this was sold after a few months to a British company.
