Meinhart Maur

Meinhart Maur, also Meinhardt Maur ( born August 18, 1884 in Hajdúnánás, Austria - Hungary, † 1964 in London, England) was a Hungarian actor.

Life

He began his stage career in 1906 at the German Schauspielhaus Dusseldorf. In 1909 he moved to Hildesheim, 1910 to Koblenz and 1912 to Mannheim. In the fall of 1918, he appeared in Berlin, where he took on small roles in the Reinhardt theaters in Karl Schönherr's The Devil Woman and Georg Büchner in Danton's Death.

1919 began his career as a film actor. In the three first Karl May movies of Ustad movie he played Hajji Halef Omar. From 1921, however, his work was back in the theater priority.

After the seizure of power by the National Socialists Maur emigrated to England. At the British film, he played various supporting roles, including Alexander Korda's Rembrandt Biography (1936).

Maur was married to theater actress Annie Arden, who stood with him in The Devil's Elixirs front of the camera.
