Melih Cevdet Anday

Melih Cevdet, Melih Cevdet Anday actually ( born March 13, 1915 in Istanbul, † November 28, 2002 ibid ) was a Turkish writer.

Life

After leaving school, he studied in Ankara changing subjects: Law and language. In 1938 he went to Belgium, where he studied sociology for a short time. His studies he does not finish, but takes a position as a consultant and later as a librarian in Ankara. From 1951 he worked as a journalist at several major Turkish newspapers such as Akşam, Tercüman, Büyük Gazete and Cumhuriyet. From 1954 he taught as a teacher at the conservatory in İstanbul. In the period from 1964 - 1969 he is in the sender's TRT Board. After his retirement in 1977, he goes from 1979 to 1983 as a guest of UNESCO in Paris.

During his high school years, he has Orhan Veli and Oktay Rifat met with which it forms together the poet trio Garip ( foreign -like ). In her poems she revolutionizing outdated Turkish poetry and bring a modern, popular as well as surrealistic style means. In addition to his poems and articles Melih Cevdet also writes novels, dramas and plays.

For his work Melih Cevdet has been repeatedly awarded with prizes, so with the İlhan Iskender Award in 1968, the TRT Art Prize in 1970, the Sedat - Simavi Prize for Literature in 1978 and the Literature Prize of the İş Bankası (1981).
