Melinda McGraw

Melinda Leigh McGraw ( born October 25, 1963 in Nicosia, Cyprus ) is an American actress.

Life and career

Melinda McGraw was born in Cyprus, the daughter of American parents. Her father was there first as a diplomat for the United States Agency for International Development, before he accepted an upscale location in Boston. The youngest of three daughters grew Cambridge and Dover in the vicinity of Boston. McGraw first began studying at Bennington College in Vermont and graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Then she began to work as a stage actress in London's West End and at other theaters in Britain. 1990 McGraw returned to the United States.

As a TV Actress McGraw had initially sporadic appearances in series like Quantum Leap, Night Court and Seinfeld. Her first major television role was McGraw 1992-1994 as Detective Cyd Madison in the comedy series The chief of police. In the TV series The X-Files - The Files she played in four episodes of Melissa Scully, who is terminally ill sister of the main character Dana Scully. In addition, McGraw played in 2006 the role of the campaign collaborator Jane Brown in The West Wing - The West Wing. Furthermore, she had appearances in a few episodes of well-known series such as Bones - Bone Slayer, CSI - Crime Scene Investigation track, and Desperate Housewives.

As a film actress McGraw was in 1996 to see for the first time and got a role in the thriller Albino Alligator, in which Kevin Spacey directed. There she acted among other things on the side of Viggo Mortensen and William Fichtner. In 1998, she played the role of Cass Lake in the comedy film Wrongfully Accused. In 2000, she starred in family Klumps and Nutty Professor as Leanne Guilford. In 2008, she played the role of Barbara Gordon, the wife of Commissioner Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman ) in Christopher Nolan's blockbuster The Dark Knight. In addition, McGraw had repeatedly roles in a few TV movies as well as pilot episodes of certain series in film length.

Private McGraw is married to composer Steve Pierson and mother of a daughter.
