Mercy Wanjiku

Mercy Wanjiku Njoroge ( born June 10, 1986 at Nyandarua District ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specializes in the steeplechase.

Career

Since 2004, Njoroge scored first international success at junior level. At the Track World Junior Championships in Grosseto in 2004, she finished fourth in the steeplechase. The same position it reached in Saint- Galmier, which they contributed to the victory of the Kenyan team in the national rankings in the junior race of the IAAF World Cross Country Championships 2005. Also in 2005, she became Junior Champion in Africa 3000 -meter run and obstacle course.

In the adult area Njoroge first appeared at the World Cross Country Championships 2006 in Fukuoka in appearance, where she finished in twelfth place in the long distance race and the second with the team. The Pan-African Games in Algiers in 2007 and at the Track and Field Championships 2008 Africa in Addis Ababa, they were each fifth in steeplechase. Two years later she improved in the athletics Africa Championships in Nairobi for a place. Your first individual medal she finally won a short time later at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

At the World Athletics Championships 2011 in Daegu Njoroge finished fourth in the steeplechase, even though they had lost a shoe during the Finals.
