Messier 61

Messier 61 (also known as NGC 4303 ) is a 9.3 like bright spiral galaxy with a surface area of 6.2 × 5.9 arcmin in the constellation Virgo. The Glalaxie was discovered in 1779 by astronomer Barnaba Oriani said.

M61 belongs to the larger spiral galaxies of the Virgo galaxy cluster and has a diameter which is approximately comparable to the Milky Way about 100,000 light years. The morphological type of this galaxy is an intermediate form of barred spiral galaxy and a normal spiral galaxy ( SABbc ). The object was discovered on May 5, 1779 by Barnaba Oriani.
