Mick MacNeil

Michael ' Mick ' MacNeil, ( born July 20, 1958, the Isle of Barra, Scotland ) is a Scottish keyboard player and founding member of the rock band Simple Minds. He left the group in 1989 for health reasons.

Biography

1978 Mick MacNeil came to the Simple Minds, which. From the punk band Johnny And The Self Abusers had emerged. After some changes in the cast, he formed along with Jim Kerr, Charlie Burchill, Derek Forbes and Brian McGee end of 1978 the formation which then grossed well records.

Followed in 1979 by Life In A Day, the debut album by Simple Minds. In 1983, he designed the cover design of Billy Idol's Rebel Yell album.

MacNeil stayed with changing line- up in 1989 in the band and announced after the Street Fighting Years tour to be " unmotivated " to exit. Quote Mick MacNeil at a band meeting about where it 'll go further " Well, you can go, I'm going home ."

In the 1990s he played with various musicians of different instruments on their albums, so he played the accordion at Seven system on System 7 ( 1991) and 777 (1992 ), with Rod Stewart Vagabond Heart (1991 ) and Martin Stephenson on Beyond The Leap, Beyond The Law (1997), Keyboards Robin Zander Robin Zander on (1993 ), in Orgasmaphobia Then Jericho (1998) and sang at Kary on Light ( 2004).

Published in early 2000 Mick MacNeil then a solo double album with the title People, Places, Things.

In the band of ex -Simple Minds bassist Derek Forbes, the Fourgoodmen, MacNeil is temporarily worked as a guest musician, playing on their Heart Of Winter: 2006 Tour Sampler ( 2006) keyboards and Squeezebox.
