Minsk Tractor Works
The Minski Traktorny Zavod (also: Production Association Minsk Tractor Works ); (White Russian Менскі трактарны завод, Russian Минский тракторный завод, abbreviation МТЗ / MTS ) is a Belarusian company, which produces agricultural and forestry trucks. It was founded on May 29, 1946. The company is based in Minsk.
Gradually, it became one of the world's largest agricultural machinery manufacturing companies and employs nearly 20,000 employees ( 2005). Main products are the tractors of the brand Belarus exported according to the company (2005 ) in more than 60 countries and thus have 8-10% share of the world market. Since its founding more than three million tractors were manufactured, over 70,000 of which were exported to the GDR. Other products are walking tractors and harvesters on the basis of tractors as well as cast and forged products.
